  • Unveiling The Painting

Our Lady of Consolation (Carey, Ohio), Divine Mercy shrine

When I first started this blog, Peg Pondering Again, “Trying To Paint A Picture Of Christ” was a mission in my heart. I didn’t know how it would look. I didn’t know how to start. I didn’t know what our Lord wanted me to do. I just knew He was calling me to do it. Today, I know in my heart, the “painting” is complete. Merciful Lord Jesus Christ, I trust in you.

“In the document, Pope Francis says the Holy Year is “dedicated to living out in our daily lives the mercy” which God “constantly extends to all of us.”

Pope Francis presents Bull of Indiction of Jubilee of Mercy

St. Faustina, pray for us. St. John Paul II, pray for us. Our Lady of Consolation, intercede for us. Merciful Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

    Glory to God!
Everything you find in this blog, praise and glory be to God.. It is the mercy of God. It is His mercy that brought me back home and I pray the entire world takes advantage of the coming Holy Year of Mercy.

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been purchased at a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body.”

Repent and believe. St. John Paul II, pray for us. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in you. Have mercy on us all.

VATICAN CITY — Saturday evening, in front of the Holy Door in the atrium of St. Peter’s Basilica, Pope Francis’ will give the archpriests of the major basilicas of Rome copies of his “bull of indiction,” or formal proclamation, of the Holy Year of Mercy. An aide will read portions of it at the door before participants process into St. Peter’s for evening prayer.

    Psalm 30
1 A psalm. A song for the dedication of the Temple Of David

    I
2 I praise you, LORD, for you raised me up
and did not let my enemies rejoice over me.
    3 O LORD, my God,
I cried out to you for help and you healed me.
    4 LORD, you brought my soul up from Sheol;
you let me live, from going down to the pit.

    II
    5 Sing praise to the LORD, you faithful;
give thanks to his holy memory.
    6 For his anger lasts but a moment;
    his favor a lifetime.
    At dusk weeping comes for the night;
but at dawn there is rejoicing.

    III
    7 Complacent, I once said,
    “I shall never be shaken.”
8 LORD, you showed me favor,
established for me mountains of virtue.
But when you hid your face
    I was struck with terror.
    9 To you, LORD, I cried out;
with the Lord I pleaded for mercy:
10 “What gain is there from my lifeblood,
from my going down to the grave?
    Does dust give you thanks
    or declare your faithfulness?
    11 Hear, O LORD, have mercy on me;
    LORD, be my helper.”

    IV
    12 You changed my mourning into dancing;
    you took off my sackcloth
    and clothed me with gladness.
13 So that my glory may praise you
    and not be silent.
    O LORD, my God,
forever will I give you thanks.

  • Moving Past “Killing Jesus”

    April 6th, 2015

    f14eac7800953dbbbedb61d2a13dae2c

There has been a lot of discussion about Bill O’Riley’s “Killing Jesus” lately and to be very honest, I had not seen it nor read the book. There is no need for me to. I don’t need evidence to my Lords death as I believe with my entire heart, He has risen and Lives still.

Back in 1995 a movie came out by Mel Gibson called “Braveheart”. At the time I was in a miserable relationship and truly was missing love in my life. I didn’t know what love was nor how to love. I was VERY far away from our Lord and the Catholic Church. I had heard of this movie many times but had not gone out of my way to see it at the theater. Two years after it had made its debut, I was able to see it on cable TV. I was so captivated by it and when I did see it, I began a journey to see if this was a true story. I sought the Truth. I wanted facts and I wanted to know if this man William Wallace was real. I had been living a lie for most of my life the very first time I looked for Truth, it was on the path of finding it based on a Hollywood Movie. Most of which had a lot of misinformation.

The desire to learn became a raging fire and our Lord lead me from one point to the next, coaxing me on and causing that stir inside my soul to dig deep!

The point I will make is a flame of Love was lit inside of me and I was hungry for the truth. The constant searching for information on Sir William Wallace lead me deeper into looking for more and more. I was not only tired of misinformation but wanted that little bit of Truth I had found but looking deeper to grow. In searching for the Truth, it lead me back to our Lord and the Catholic Church. It was the VERY beginning of my “knocking” on the door of “Truth”, it opening, and walking through. I truly believe our Lord uses everything to lead souls back to Him. Entertainment being one of the roads. He speaks to us through everything, coaxing us back to Him.

The correlation to “Killing Jesus” is huge here. The key I need to stress is not to stop at “Killing Jesus”, but to continue on seeking, more and more as its only the outer layer of skin to the path to the Heart of our Lord. “Killing Jesus” and other entertainment like “Jesus Christ Superstar” etc, can open the door to to soul to seek the truth, but should NEVER be used as the Truth itself. Entertainment should never replace the Teaching we have followed from the beginning, but should lead the soul to them, therefore leading the soul to love our Lord and LIVE the faith “We Profess” (Hebrews 10:23-24). As I looked for “Braveheart” I was lead back to His “Sacred Heart”. A blessed Easter Monday to all. “He has risen indeed”

Personal note I need to point out – Sir William Wallace was a Roman Catholic. At his execution: “Sir William then asked for his Psalter to be brought to him, so that he could read it. Another priest came forward, and held it open for him. Sir William’s gaze became transfixed, and his lips could be seen moving in prayer, even while his entrails were being removed, until death overpowered him.”

  • “Do Not Be Amazed!”

    April 4th, 2015

    WomenattheGrave_AdolpeBouguereau

    When the sabbath was over,
Mary Magdalene, Mary, the mother of James, and Salome
bought spices so that they might go and anoint him.
Very early when the sun had risen,
on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb.
They were saying to one another,
“Who will roll back the stone for us
from the entrance to the tomb?”
    When they looked up,
    they saw that the stone had been rolled back;
    it was very large.
On entering the tomb they saw a young man
sitting on the right side, clothed in a white robe,
    and they were utterly amazed.
He said to them, “Do not be amazed!
You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified.
He has been raised; he is not here.
Behold the place where they laid him.
But go and tell his disciples and Peter,
    ‘He is going before you to Galilee;
there you will see him, as he told you.’”

    Mark 16:1-7

  • Eternal Life Descending

    April 3rd, 2015

    Cristo-caminhando-sobre-as-águas

Our Lords journey into the unknown realm of death, for love of us, can and will never be unknown again.

“When I caught sight of him, I fell down at his feet as though dead. He touched me with his right hand and said, “Do not be afraid. I am the first and the last, the one who lives. Once I was dead, but now I am alive forever and ever. I hold the keys to death and the netherworld.” Revelation 1 17:18

Eternal Love passed the test. Jesus Christ is LORD

You O Lord, today, still, churn the ocean of Mercy, making it difficult for my soul to escape the abyss of Your precious love, mercy and forgiveness. I freely give all that I am, my life, my will, my heart, my all to You O Lord, uniting my pitiful love to your Eternal Love for all eternity. It was and is you O Lord, who freed me from the chains of sin and death. I seek only to do thy will. Do with me as you see fit. They will be done. Amen

  • Eloi, Eloi, Lema Sabachthani

    April 3rd, 2015

    Luis_de_Morales_-_Pietà

    The Death of Jesus

33 At noon darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon.

34 And at three o’clock Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

35 Some of the bystanders who heard it said, “Look, he is calling Elijah.”

36 One of them ran, soaked a sponge with wine, put it on a reed, and gave it to him to drink, saying, “Wait, let us see if Elijah comes to take him down.”

37 Jesus gave a loud cry and breathed his last.

38 The veil of the sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom.

39 When the centurion who stood facing him saw how he breathed his last he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!”

40 There were also women looking on from a distance.m Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of the younger James and of Joses, and Salome.

41 These women had followed him when he was in Galilee and ministered to him. There were also many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem.

    The Burial of Jesus

    ArtBook__058_058__BurialOfJesus____2

42 When it was already evening, since it was the day of preparation, the day before the sabbath,

43 Joseph of Arimathea, a distinguished member of the council, who was himself awaiting the kingdom of God, came and courageously went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.

44 Pilate was amazed that he was already dead. He summoned the centurion and asked him if Jesus had already died.

45 And when he learned of it from the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.

46 Having bought a linen cloth, he took him down, wrapped him in the linen cloth and laid him in a tomb that had been hewn out of the rock. Then he rolled a stone against the entrance to the tomb.

47 Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses watched where he was laid.

  • The Way of the Cross

    April 3rd, 2015

    The Way of the Cross

21 They pressed into service a passer-by, Simon, a Cyrenian, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry his cross.

    467px-Giovanni_Battista_Piazzetta_-_Christ_Crucified_between_the_Two_Thieves_-_WGA17417

    The Crucifixion

22 They brought him to the place of Golgotha (which is translated Place of the Skull).

23 They gave him wine drugged with myrrh, but he did not take it.

24 Then they crucified him and divided his garments by casting lots for them to see what each should take.

25 It was nine o’clock in the morning* when they crucified him.

26 The inscription of the charge against him read, “The King of the Jews.”

27 With him they crucified two revolutionaries, one on his right and one on his left.

28 * [15:28] This verse, “And the scripture was fulfilled that says, ‘And he was counted among the wicked,’” is omitted in the earliest and best manuscripts. It contains a citation from Is 53:12 and was probably introduced from Lk 22:37.

29 Those passing by reviled him, shaking their heads and saying, “Aha! You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days,

30 save yourself by coming down from the cross.”

31 Likewise the chief priests, with the scribes, mocked him among themselves and said, “He saved others; he cannot save himself.

32 Let the Messiah, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross that we may see and believe.” Those who were crucified with him also kept abusing him.

  • Jesus Before Pilate

    April 3rd, 2015

    ChristPilate

1 As soon as morning came, the chief priests with the elders and the scribes, that is, the whole Sanhedrin, held a council.* They bound Jesus, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate.

2 Pilate questioned him, “Are you the king of the Jews?”* He said to him in reply, “You say so.”

3 The chief priests accused him of many things.

4 Again Pilate questioned him, “Have you no answer? See how many things they accuse you of.”

5 Jesus gave him no further answer, so that Pilate was amazed.

    The Sentence of Death

    Quentin_Massys_005

6 Now on the occasion of the feast he used to release to them one prisoner whom they requested.

7 A man called Barabbas* was then in prison along with the rebels who had committed murder in a rebellion.

8 The crowd came forward and began to ask him to do for them as he was accustomed.

9 Pilate answered, “Do you want me to release to you the king of the Jews?”

10 For he knew that it was out of envy that the chief priests had handed him over.

11 But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have him release Barabbas for them instead.

12 Pilate again said to them in reply, “Then what [do you want] me to do with [the man you call] the king of the Jews?”

13 They shouted again, “Crucify him.”

14 Pilate said to them, “Why? What evil has he done?” They only shouted the louder, “Crucify him.”

15 So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released Barabbas to them and, after he had Jesus scourged, handed him over to be crucified.

    Mockery by the Soldiers

    7546250332_195e67dcb3_b
16 The soldiers led him away inside the palace, that is, the praetorium, and assembled the whole cohort.

17 They clothed him in purple and, weaving a crown of thorns, placed it on him.

18 They began to salute him with, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

19 and kept striking his head with a reed and spitting upon him. They knelt before him in homage.

20 And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the purple cloak, dressed him in his own clothes, and led him out to crucify him.

  • Peter’s Denial of Jesus

    April 3rd, 2015

    peters-denial-carl-heinrich-bloch

66 While Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the high priest’s maids came along.

67 Seeing Peter warming himself, she looked intently at him and said, “You too were with the Nazarene, Jesus.”

68 But he denied it saying, “I neither know nor understand what you are talking about.” So he went out into the outer court. [Then the cock crowed.]

69 The maid saw him and began again to say to the bystanders, “This man is one of them.”

70 Once again he denied it. A little later the bystanders said to Peter once more, “Surely you are one of them; for you too are a Galilean.”

71 He began to curse and to swear, “I do not know this man about whom you are talking.”

72 And immediately a cock crowed a second time. Then Peter remembered the word that Jesus had said to him, “Before the cock crows twice you will deny me three times.” He broke down and wept.

  • Jesus Before The Sanhedrin

    April 3rd, 2015

    Jesús_en_casa_de_Anás_Museo_del_Prado_José_de_Madrazo

53 They led Jesus away to the high priest, and all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes came together.

54 Peter followed him at a distance into the high priest’s courtyard and was seated with the guards, warming himself at the fire.

55 The chief priests and the entire Sanhedrin kept trying to obtain testimony against Jesus in order to put him to death, but they found none.

56 Many gave false witness against him, but their testimony did not agree.

57 Some took the stand and testified falsely against him, alleging,

58 “We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple made with hands and within three days I will build another not made with hands.’”

59 Even so their testimony did not agree.

60 The high priest rose before the assembly and questioned Jesus, saying, “Have you no answer? What are these men testifying against you?”

61 But he was silent and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him and said to him, “Are you the Messiah, the son of the Blessed One?”

62 Then Jesus answered, “I am; and
‘you will see the Son of Man
seated at the right hand of the Power
and coming with the clouds of heaven.’”

63 At that the high priest tore his garments and said, “What further need have we of witnesses?

64 You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?” They all condemned him as deserving to die.

65 Some began to spit on him. They blindfolded him and struck him and said to him, “Prophesy!” And the guards greeted him with blows.

  • The Betrayal And Arrest Of Jesus

    April 3rd, 2015

    Cavalier_d'Arpino_-_The_Betrayal_of_Christ_-_WGA04689

43 Then, while he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived, accompanied by a crowd with swords and clubs who had come from the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders.

44 His betrayer had arranged a signal with them, saying, “The man I shall kiss is the one; arrest him and lead him away securely.”

45 He came and immediately went over to him and said, “Rabbi.” And he kissed him.

46 At this they laid hands on him and arrested him.

47 One of the bystanders drew his sword, struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his ear.

48 Jesus said to them in reply, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs, to seize me?

49 Day after day I was with you teaching in the temple area, yet you did not arrest me; but that the scriptures may be fulfilled.”

50 And they all left him and fled.

51 Now a young man followed him wearing nothing but a linen cloth about his body. They seized him,

52 but he left the cloth behind and ran off naked.

  • The Agony

    April 2nd, 2015

    christ-in-the-garden-of-gethsemane-1901 (1)

32 Then they came to a place named Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.”

33 He took with him Peter, James, and John, and began to be troubled and distressed.

34 Then he said to them, “My soul is sorrowful even to death. Remain here and keep watch.”

    35 He advanced a little and fell to the ground and prayed that if it were possible the hour might pass by him;

36 he said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Take this cup away from me, but not what I will but what you will.”

37 When he returned he found them asleep. He said to Peter, “Simon, are you asleep? Could you not keep watch for one hour?

38 Watch and pray that you may not undergo the test. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.”

39 Withdrawing again, he prayed, saying the same thing.

40 Then he returned once more and found them asleep, for they could not keep their eyes open and did not know what to answer him.

41 He returned a third time and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? It is enough. The hour has come. Behold, the Son of Man is to be handed over to sinners.

42 Get up, let us go. See, my betrayer is at hand.”

  • The Lord’s Supper

    April 2nd, 2015

Pope Francis lifts up the chalice as he leads a vigil mass during Easter celebrations at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican 22 While they were eating, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, and said, “Take it; this is my body.” 23 Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it. 24 He said to them, “This is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed for many. 25 Amen, I say to you, I shall not drink again the fruit of the vine until the day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.” 26 Then, after singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. PART VII
    TO THE SACRED HEART

I Hail, sacred Heart of God’s great Majesty! Hail, sweetest Heart, my heart saluteth Thee! With great desire, O Heart, I seek for Thee, And faint for joy, O Heart, embracing Thee; Then give me leave, O Love, to speak to Thee.

II With what sweet love Thou languishedst for me! What pain and torment was that love to Thee! How didst Thou all Thyself exhaust for me! How hast Thou wholly given Thyself to me, That death no longer might have hold of me!

III O bitter death and cruel! Can it be Thou darest so to enter greedily Into that cell divine? O can it be The Life of life, that lives there gloriously, Should feel thy bite, O death, and yield to thee?

IV For Thy death’s sake which Thou didst bear for me, When Thou, O sweetest Heart, didst faint for me, O Heart most precious in its agony, See how I yearn, and longing turn to Thee! Yield to my love, and draw me unto Thee!

V O sacred Heart, beloved most tenderly, Cleanse Thou my own; more worthy let it be, All hardened as it is with vanity; O make it tender, loving, fearing Thee, And all its icy coldness drive from me.

VI O sinner as I am, I come to Thee; My very vitals throb and call for Thee; O Love, sweet love, draw hither unto me! O Heart of Love, my heart would ravished be, And sicken with the wound of love for Thee!

VII ilate and open, Heart of love, for me, And like a rose of wondrous fragrance be, Sweet Heart of love, united unto me; Anoint and pierce my heart, O Love, with Thee, How can he suffer, Lord, who loveth Thee?

VIII O Heart of Love, who vanquished is by Thee Knows nothing, but beside himself must be; No bounds are set to that sweet liberty, No moderation,–he must fly to Thee, Or die he must of many deaths for Thee.

IX My living heart, O Love, cries out for Thee; With all its strength, O Love, my soul loves Thee; O Heart of Love, incline Thou unto me, That I with burning love may turn to Thee, And with devoted breast recline on Thee!

X In that sweet furnace let me live for Thee, Nor let the sleep of sloth encumber me; O let me sing to Thee and weep to Thee, Adore, and magnify, and honor Thee, And always take my full delight in Thee.

XI Thou Rose of wondrous fragrance, open wide, And bring my heart into Thy wounded Side, O sweet heart, open! Draw Thy loving bride, All panting with desires intensified, And satisfy her love unsatisfied.

XII Unite my heart, O Jesus, unto Thine, And let Thy wounded love be found in mine. Ah, if my heart, dear love, be made like Thine O will it not be pierced with darts divine, the sweet reproach of love that thrills through Thine?

XIII O Jesus, draw my heart within Thy Breast, That it may be by Thee alone possessed. O Love, in that sweet pain it would find rest, In that entrancing sorrow would be blest, And love itself in joy upon Thy Breast.

XIV Behold, O Jesus, how it draws to Thee! O call it, that it may remain in Thee! See with what large desire it thirsts for Thee! Reprove it not, O Love; it loves but Thee: Then bid it live–by one sweet taste of Thee!

    PART VI
    TO THE FACE

I Hail, bleeding Head of Jesus, hail to Thee! Thou thorn-crowned Head, I humbly worship Thee! O wounded Head, I lift my hands to Thee; O lovely Face besmeared, I gaze on Thee; O bruised and livid Face, look down on me!

II Hail, beauteous Face of Jesus, bent on me, Whom angel choirs adore exultantly! Hail, sweetest Face of Jesus, bruised for me– Hail, Holy One, whose glorious Face for me Is shorn of beauty on that fatal Tree!

III All strength, all freshness, is gone forth from Thee: What wonder! Hath not God afflicted Thee, And is not death himself approaching Thee? O Love! But death hath laid his touch on Thee, And faint and broken features turn to me.

IV O have they thus maltreated Thee, my own? O have they Thy sweet Face despised, my own? And all for my unworthy sake, my own! O in Thy beauty turn to me, my own; O turn one look of love on me, my own!

V In this Thy Passion, Lord, remember me; In this Thy pain, O Love, acknowledge me; The honey of whose lips was shed on me, The milk of whose delights hath strengthened me Whose sweetness is beyond delight for me!

VI Despise me not, O Love; I long for Thee; Contemn me not, unworthy though I be; But now that death is fast approaching Thee, Incline Thy Head, my Love, my Love, to me, To these poor arms, and let it rest on me!

VII The holy Passion I would share with Thee, And in Thy dying love rejoice with Thee; Content if by this Cross I die with Thee; Content, Thou knowest, Lord, how willingly Where I have lived to die for love of Thee.

VIII For this Thy bitter death all thanks to Thee, Dear Jesus, and Thy wondrous love for me! O gracious God, so merciful to me, Do as Thy guilty one entreateth Thee, And at the end let me be found with Thee!

IX When from this life, O Love, Thou callest me, Then, Jesus, be not wanting unto me, But in the dreadful hour of agony, O hasten, Lord, and be Thou nigh to me, Defend, protect, and O deliver me.

X When Thou, O God, shalt bid my soul be free, Then, dearest Jesus, show Thyself to me! O condescend to show Thyself to me,– Upon Thy saving Cross, dear Lord, to me,– And let me die, my Lord, embracing Thee!

    PART V
    TO THE BREAST

I O God of my salvation, hail to Thee! O Jesus, sweetest Love, all hail to Thee! O venerable Breast, I worship Thee; O dwelling-place of love, I fly to Thee, With trembling touch adore and worship Thee.

II Hail, throne of the Most Holy Trinity! Hail, ark immense of tender charity! Thou stay of weakness and infirmity, Sweet rest of weary souls who rest on Thee, Dear couch of loving ones who lean on Thee!

III With reverence, O Love, I kneel to Thee, O worthy to be ever sought by me; Behold me, Jesus, looking unto Thee. O, set my heart on fire, dear Love, from Thee, And burn it in the flame that burns in Thee.

IV O make my breast a precious home for thee, A furnace of sweet love and purity, A well of holy grief and piety; Deny my will, conform it unto Thee, That grace abundant may be mine in Thee.

V Sweet Jesus, loving Shepherd, come to me; Dear Son of God and Mary, come to me; Kind Father come, let Thy Heart pity me, And cleanse the fountain of my misery In that great fountain of Thy clemency.

VI Hail, fruitful splendor of the Deity! Hail, fruitful figure of Divinity! From the full treasure of Thy charity, O pour some gift in Thy benignity Upon the desolate who cry to Thee!

VII Dear Breast of most sweet Jesus, mine would be All Thine in its entire conformity; Absolve it from all sin, and set it free, That it may burn with ardent charity, And never, never cease to think on Thee.

VIII Abyss of wisdom from eternity, The harmonies of angels worship Thee; Entrancing sweetness flows, O Breast, from thee; John tasted it as he lay rapt on Thee; O grant me thus that I may dwell in Thee!

IX Hail, fountain deep of God’s benignity! The fullness of the immense Divinity Hath found at last a creature home in Thee. Ah, may the counsel that I learn from Thee All imperfection purify in me!

X True temple of the Godhead, hail to Thee! O draw me in Thy gracious charity, Thou ark of goodness, full of grace for me. Great God of all, have mercy upon me, And on Thy right hand keep a place for me.

    PART IV
    TO THE SIDE

I O Jesus, highest Good, I yearn for Thee; O Jesus, merciful, I hope in Thee, Whose sacred Body hands upon the Tree, Whose limbs, all dislocated painfully, Are stretched in torture, all for love of me!

II Hail, sacred Side of Jesus! Verily The hidden spring of mercy lies in Thee, The source of honeyed sweetness dwells in Thee, The fountain of redemption flows from Thee, The secret well of love that cleanses me.

III Behold, O King of Love, I draw to Thee; If I am wrong, O Jesus, pardon me; Thy love, Beloved, calls me lovingly, As I with blushing cheek gaze willingly Upon the living wound that bleeds for me.

IV O gentle opening, I worship Thee; O open door and deep, I look in Thee; O most pure stream, I gaze and gaze on Thee: More ruddy than the rose, I draw to Thee; More healing than all health, I fly to Thee.

V More sweet than wine Thine odor is for me; The poisoned breath of sin it drives from me; Thou art the draught of life poured out for me. O ye who thirst, come, drink thereof with me; And Thou, sweet wound, O open unto me.

VI O red wound open, let me draw to Thee, And let my throbbing heart be filled from Thee! Ah, see! My heart, Beloved, faints for Thee. O my Beloved, open unto me, That I may pass and lose myself in Thee.

VII Lord, with my mouth I touch and worship Thee, With all the strength I have I cling to Thee, With all my love I plunge my heart in Thee, My very life-blood would I drawn from Thee,– O Jesus, Jesus! Draw me into Thee!

VIII How Sweet Thy savor is! Who tastes of Thee, O Jesus Christ, can relish naught but Thee; Who tastes Thy living sweetness lives by Thee; All else is void–the soul must die for Thee; So faints my heart,–so would I die for thee.

IX I languish, Lord! O let me hide in Thee! In Thy sweet Side, my Love, O bury me! And may the fire divine consuming Thee Burn in my heart where it lies hid in Thee, Without a fear reposing peacefully!

X When in the hour of death Thou callest me, O Love of loves, may my soul enter Thee; May my last breath, O Jesus fly to Thee; So no fierce beast may drive my heart from Thee, But in Thy Side may it remain with Thee!

    PART III
    TO THE HANDS
I Hail, holy Shepherd! Lord, I worship Thee, Fatigued with combat, steeped in misery; Whose sacred Hands, outstretched in agony, All pierced and dislocated on the Tree, Are fastened to the wood of infamy.

II Dear holy Hands, I humbly worship ye, With roses filled, fresh blossoms of that Tree; The cruel iron enters into ye, While open gashes yield unceasingly The Precious stream down-dropping from the Tree.

III Behold, Thy Blood, O Jesus, flows on me– The price of my salvation falls on me; O ruddy as the rose, it drops on me. Sweet Precious Blood, it wells abundantly From both Thy sacred Hands to set me free.

IV My heart leaps up, O Jesus, unto Thee; Drawn by those nail-pierced Hands it flies to Thee; Drawn by those Blood-stained Hands stretched out for me, My soul breaks out with sighing unto Thee, And longs to slake its thirst, O Love, in Thee.

V My God, what great stupendous charity– Both good and bad are welcomed here by Thee! The slothful heart Thou drawest graciously, The loving one Thou callest tenderly, And unto all a pardon grantest free.

VI Behold, I now present myself to Thee, Who dost present thy bleeding Hands to me; The sick Thou healest when they come to Thee; Thou canst not, therefore, turn away from me, Whose love Thou knowest, Lord, is all for Thee.

VII O my Beloved, fastened to the Tree, Draw, by Thy love, my senses unto Thee; My will, my intellect, my memory, And all I am, make subject unto Thee, In whose dear arms alone is liberty.

VIII O draw me for Thy Cross’ sake to Thee; O draw me for Thy so wide charity; Sweet Jesus, draw my heart in truth to Thee, O put an end to all my misery, And crown me with Thy Cross and victory!

IX O Jesus, place Thy sacred Hands on me, With transport let me kiss them tenderly, With groans and tears embrace them fervently; And, O for these deep wounds I worship Thee; And for hte blessed drops that fall on me!

X O dearest Jesus, I commend to Thee Myself, and all I am, most perfectly; Bathed in Thy Blood, behold, I live for Thee; O, may Thy blessed Hands encompass me, And in extremity deliver me!

    PART II
    TO THE KNEES
I O Jesus, King of Saints, I worship Thee; O hope of sinners, hail! I rest on Thee; True God, true man, Thou hangest on the Tree Transfixed, with quivering flesh and shaking knees, A criminal esteemed,–I worship Thee.

II Alas, how poor, how naked, wilt Thou be! How hast Thou stript Thyself for love of me, How made Thyself a gazing-stock to be! Not forced, but, O my God! How willingly In all Thy limbs Thou sufferest on that Tree!

III Thy Precious Blood wells forth abundantly From all Thy open wounds incessantly; All bathed therein, O God, in agony Thou standest on the Cross of infamy, Awaiting the appointed hour to die.

IV O infinite, O wondrous majesty! O terrible, unheard-of poverty! Ah, who, returning so great charity, I willing, Jesus, thus to give for Thee His blood for Thine, in faithful love for Thee?

V O Jesus, how shall I, then, answer Thee, Who am so vile, and have not followed Thee? Or how repay the love that loveth me With such sublime, such awful charity Transfixed, from double death to set me free?

VI O Jesus, what Thy love hath been for me! O Jesus, death could never conquer Thee! Ah, with what loving care Thou keepest me Enfolded in Thine arms, lest I should be, By death of sin, a moment torn from Thee!

VII Behold, O Jesus, how for love of Thee, With all my soul I trembling cling to Thee, And Thy dear Knees embrace. O pity me! Thou knowest why–in pity bear with me, And overlook the shame that covers me!

VIII O let the Blood I worship flow on me, That what I do may never anger Thee; The Blood which flows at every pore from Thee Each imperfection may it wash from me, That I may undefiled and perfect be.

IX O force me, best Beloved, to draw to Thee, Transfixed and bleeding on the shameful Tree, Despised and stretched in dying agony! All my desire, O Lord, is fixed on Thee; O call me, then, and I will follow Thee.

X I have no other love, dear Lord, but Thee; Thou art my first and last; I cling to Thee. It is no labor, Lord; love sets me free; Then heal me, cleanse me, let me rest on Thee, For love is life, and life is love–in Thee.

    PART I
    TO THE FEET
I O Saviour of the world, I cry to Thee; O Saviour, suffering God, I worship Thee; O wounded beauteous Love, I kneel to Thee; Thou knowest, Lord, how I would follow Thee, If of Thyself Thou give Thyself to Me.

II Thy Presence I Believe; O come to me! Behold me prostrate, Jesus; look on me! How beautiful Thou art! O turn to me! O in Thy tender mercy turn to me, And let Thy untold pity pardon me!

III With trembling love and feat I worship Thee; I kiss the grievous nails which entered Thee, And think on those dire wounds which tortured Thee, And, grieving, lift my weeping eyes to Thee, Transfixed and dying all for love of me!

IV O wondrous grace! O gracious charity! O love of sinners in such agony! Sweet Father of the poor! O who can be Unmoved to witness this great mystery,– The Healer smitten, hanging on a tree?

IV O wondrous grace! O gracious charity! O love of sinners in such agony! Sweet Father of the poor! O who can be Unmoved to witness this great mystery,– The Healer smitten, hanging on a tree?

V O gentle Jesus, turn Thee unto me; What i have broken do Thou bind in me, And what is crooked make Thou straight in me; What I have lost restore Thou unto me, And what is weak and sickly heal in me.

VI O Love! with all my strength I seek for Thee; Upon and in thy Cross I look for Thee; With sorrow and with hope I turn to Thee,– That through Thy Blood new health may come to me, That washed therein Thy love may pardon me.

VII O take my heart, Thou Loved One; let it be Transfixed with those dear wounds for love of Thee, O wound it, Jesus, with pure love of Thee; And let it so be crucified with Thee, that it may be forever joined to Thee.

VIII Sweet Jesus, loving God, I cry to Thee; Thou guilty, yet I come for love of Thee; O show Thyself, dear Saviour, kind to me! Unworthy as I am, O turn to me, Nor at thy sacred Feet abandon me!

IX Dear Jesus, bathed in tears, I kneel to Thee; In shame and grief I lift my eyes to Thee; Prostrate before Thy Cross I bow to Thee, And thy dear Feet embrace; O look on me, Yea, from Thy Cross, O look, and pardon me.

X O my Beloved, stretched against that Thee, Whose arms divine are now enfolding me, whose gracious Heart is now upholding me,– O my Beloved, let me wholly be Transformed, forgiven, one alone with Thee!

  • Pope Leads Worldwide Prayer For Peace

    March 27th, 2015

    Therese1-631x331

    Dear brothers and sisters:

The Order of Discalced Carmelites, friars, nuns, and seculars, the entire Teresian family, in union with the whole Church, today celebrates the 500th anniversary of the birth of its foundress, Saint Teresa of Jesus, Doctor of the Church.

At the request of the Father General of the Order, during the span of this day a world hour of prayer for peace will take place in all convents, monasteries, and fraternities. I unite myself joyfully to this initiative and begin with these words our supplication to God, Father of all of us, so that, through the intercession of Christ Jesus, he will pour his Spirit over all the nations, so that dialogue among men will triumph over violence and the conflicts that scourge our world. To this prayer I invite all faithful Catholics, all Christians of other denominations, and also members of other religions and men and women of good will.

“The world is all in flames […] and are we to waste time asking for things that if God were to give them we would have one soul less in heaven? No, my Sisters, this is not the time to be discussing with God matters that have little importance” (Teresa of Jesus, Way of Perfection 1,5).

The world is all in flames is the sorrowful cry of Teresa as she contemplates the conflicts, wars, and divisions in society and the Church of her time. Today we also make this our cry and present it to Jesus as a supplication: Lord, the world is all in flames!

We, like Saint Teresa, know that by our own efforts we will not attain the precious gift of peace. Therefore, with our petition let us hold tightly to the power of the redeeming Cross of Christ: “Oh my Lord and my Mercy, my only Good! What more do I seek in this life than a union so close to you, that there can be no distinction between you and me? With such a companion, what can be difficult? With you so close to me, what dare I not attempt for your sake?”

Joined to the Cross of Christ and from the hand of the Virgin, his Mother and our Mother, and from the hand of Teresa, we beseech God to increase the opportunities for dialogue and encounter among men, that we learn to ask for forgiveness so that peace may grow in the world like the fruit of the reconciliation that he has come to bring to us.

    Let us pray:

St Teresa of Avila, pray for us

Lord Jesus Christ, Spouse of our souls, heal us from every division that separates us from you.

    Amen

    O Lord Jesus Christ,
    the great High Priest,
who dost call chosen souls to offer Thee in sacrifice
and to assist Thee in saving souls,
I beseech Thee to grant me this high grace
    though I am most unworthy of it;
make me carefully to prepare my heart to receive it
and to keep myself pure and lowly
that Thou mayest call me to serve Thee at Thine altar.

    Amen.

O Mary, Mother of God and my dear mother too,
obtain for me this grace from the Sacred Heart of thy dear
    Son.

Strong need to share… If you have been reading my blog for any amount of time, you will understand that I love both forms of Holy Mass, as our Lord in the Eucharist, is there. I do everything humanly possible, with His grace, to be where He is.

Seeing that I am a post Second Vatican Council soul, born in 1966, I have only sparse memories of the way Holy Mass was before. Its not a concern for me to chose a side as I know the only side that matters is the “Side of our Lord that was Wounded”. Its not for me to decide which Mass, but rather too simply accept His Will with love and mercy. Its not the Holy Mass that I worship, but our Lord.

I trust the Holy Spirit of our Lord …

  • St. Joseph – REDEMPTORIS CUSTOS

    March 19th, 2015

    holyfamily_frvansloun

Prayers for all men today, to see the importance of St. Joseph in your lives.

Very important read we should all ponder today. From Saint John Paul II –

    APOSTOLIC EXHORTATION
    REDEMPTORIS CUSTOS
    OF THE SUPREME PONTIFF
    JOHN PAUL II
ON THE PERSON AND MISSION OF
    SAINT JOSEPH
IN THE LIFE OF CHRIST AND OF THE CHURCH

    To Bishops
    To Priests and Deacons
    To Men and Women Religious
And to all the Lay Faithful

    INTRODUCTION

    1. “Joseph did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took his wife” (cf. Mt 1 :24).

Inspired by the Gospel, the Fathers of the Church from the earliest centuries stressed that just as St. Joseph took loving care of Mary and gladly dedicated himself to Jesus Christ’s upbringing,(1) he likewise watches over and protects Christ’s Mystical Body, that is, the Church, of which the Virgin Mary is the exemplar and model.

On the occasion of the centenary of Pope Leo XIII’s Encyclical Epistle Quamquam Pluries,(2) and in line with the veneration given to St. Joseph over the centuries, I wish to offer for your consideration, dear brothers, and sisters, some reflections concerning him “into whose custody God entrusted his most precious treasures.”(3) I gladly fulfill this pastoral duty so that all may grow in devotion to the Patron of the Universal Church and in love for the Savior whom he served in such an exemplary manner.

In this way the whole Christian people not only will turn to St. Joseph with greater fervor and invoke his patronage with trust, but also will always keep before their eyes his humble, mature way of serving and of “taking part” in the plan of salvation.(4)

I am convinced that by reflection upon the way that Mary’s spouse shared in the divine mystery, the Church – on the road towards the future with all of humanity – will be enabled to discover ever anew her own identity within this redemptive plan, which is founded on the mystery of the Incarnation.

This is precisely the mystery in which Joseph of Nazareth “shared” like no other human being except Mary, the Mother of the Incarnate Word. He shared in it with her; he was involved in the same salvific event; he was the guardian of the same love, through the power of which the eternal Father “destined us to be his sons through Jesus Christ” (Eph 1:5).

  • No One Can Destroy The Temple

    March 17th, 2015

    Burning-candles-in-the-dark-

I write this in regards to the reports of the destruction of the Church Buildings by ISIS and Radical Islam in Iraq…

The devil always tempts us to place faith in the material goods around us, including in the Church, and its an often used weapon to cause anger, and inflame rage in hearts at the destruction of “material goods”. The devil uses this so called destruction to cause more souls close to our Lord to sin deeper. Do not be alarmed by what you see. Do not worry. We know one day they will have to answer to our Lord, as we also shall. Watch your souls and pray for theirs.

Its not worth it to fall for the ISIS “Temper Tantrum”. The Vessel of God can never be destroyed. “Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.”.John 2:19

When a Church Building burns by accident, arson or any other way is destroyed, over time, it is rebuilt. Material possessions are not the heart of the Faith. The heart of the Faith is our Lord. Even when you see the inflammatory rhetoric stating that Shariah will dominate the world, we can never forget the words of our Lord:

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Pray for them. ” be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”

It may be disappointing to lose the things that have been around for thousands of years but we must also remember our Lord has always been and always will be.

Someone to ponder while ISIS destroys the Churches (buildings) in Iraq. Servant of God, Cardinal Nguyen Van Thuan of Vietnam. Imprisoned for 13 years in Communist Vietnam, he celebrated daily Holy Mass in his dark cell, with a single crumb of bread & a tiny drop of wine. His Altar was his hand and his shirt pocket became a tabernacle.

We become tempted by thinking that excess of “things’ makes the Faith, but less, truly is more.

Pray for their conversions.. Pray for serenity. Pray without ceasing.

Servant of God, Cardinal Nguyen Van Thuan, pray for us. Immaculate Heart of Mary, Pray for us. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my faith and trust in You.

No one can destroy the Temple, as the Temple is our Lord.

The measure of the Holy Side Wound. Notice how each part can be moved to a different location than another, to every far reaching corner of eternity, never losing one part from another, held together by the Love of the Father and the Son.

  • Prayer For Vocations: The Legion of Mary

    March 15th, 2015

    page_11

The Legion of Mary is a lay Catholic organisation whose members are giving service to the Church on a voluntary basis in almost every country.

O Mary, conceived without sin. Pray for us who have recourse to you.

O God, Father of all Mercies,
    Provider of a bountiful Harvest,
    send Your Graces upon those
    You have called to gather the fruits of Your labor;
preserve and strengthen them in their lifelong service of you.

Open the hearts of Your children
    that they may discern Your Holy Will;
inspire in them a love and desire to surrender themselves
to serving others in the name of Your son, Jesus Christ.

Teach all Your faithful to follow their respective paths in life
guided by Your Divine Word and Truth.
Through the intercession of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary,
all the Angels, and Saints, humbly hear our prayers
and grant Your Church’s needs, through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

    The Legion of Mary

The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active co-operation in Mary’s and the Church’s work. The unit of the Legion of Mary is called a praesidium, which holds a weekly meeting, where prayer is intermingled with reports and discussion. Persons who wish to join the Legion must apply for membership in a Praesidium. The Legion sees as its priority the spiritual and social welfare of each individual. The members participate in the life of the parish through visitation of families, the sick, both in their homes and in hospitals and through collaboration in every apostolic and missionary undertaking sponsored by the parish. Every legionary is required to carry out a weekly apostolic work in the spirit of faith and in union with Mary.

The Legion of Mary is a lay apostolic association of Catholics who, with the sanction of the Church and under the powerful leadership of Mary Immaculate, Mediatrix of All Graces, serve the Church and their neighbour on a voluntary basis in about 170 countries. The first meeting of the Legion of Mary took place in Myra House, Francis Street, Dublin, Ireland, on 7 September, 1921. This meeting was to have very beneficial consequences for the mission of the Catholic Church and, in a special way, for millions of members of Christ’s lay faithful who would serve in the Legion and for those who would be served by the legionary apostolate. Many persons outside the Catholic Church would also benefit from that apostolate. With the approval and support of the Popes and a great many Bishops, Priests and Religious, as well as the prayers and efforts of legionaries, the Legion, by the grace of God, has grown into a worldwide organisation with several million members.

Drawing its inspiration from the True Devotion to Mary, as taught by St. Louis Marie de Montfort, and which had a profound influence on the Founder of the Legion, the Servant of God, Frank Duff, the Legion is at the disposal of the Bishops and Priests for use in the mission of the Church. While essentially a lay association, legionaries look for spiritual and apostolic formation to priests and religious, who, as Legion Spiritual Directors, hold an honoured place in the Legion system. The Legion requires ecclesiastical approval to work in a diocese or parish. Loyalty to the Magisterium and to Ecclesiastical Authority is a basic legionary principle. The Legion aims to bring Mary to the world as the infallible means of winning the world to Jesus and legionary service is based on the doctrine of the Mystical Body of Christ so that in their fellow members and in those they serve, legionaries seek to have the Person of our Lord once again seen and served by Mary, his Mother.

The general and essential means by which the Legion of Mary is to effect its object is personal service acting under the influence of the Holy Spirit, having Divine Grace as its moving principle and support, and the glory of God and the salvation of souls as its final end and purpose. Evangelisation, especially the seeking of conversions to the Church, should be a priority for the Legion. Through the visitation of homes and by other means, the Legion must, as a first principle, set out to establish a contact of some sort with every soul everywhere. Seeing and serving Christ in the sick and marginalised is another vital part of the legionary apostolate. While not engaging in the giving of material relief, legionaries will often find opportunities to do works of service for the needy.

The basic unit of the Legion is called a praesidium, which is normally based in a parish. A parish may have more than one praesidium. To be an active legionary it is necessary to apply for membership in a praesidium, which holds a weekly meeting and allocates a weekly apostolic task to the members, who generally work in pairs. After a successful period of probation, members are called to make the Legionary Promise (this is only applicable for members over 18 years) which is directed to the Holy Spirit. Realising the necessity for a strong support of prayer, the Legion has Auxiliary members, who associate themselves with the Legion by undertaking a service of prayer in its name. The administration of the Legion is carried out through its various councils at local, regional and national level. The central council, the Concilium Legionis Mariae, meets monthly in Dublin.

The Cause for Beatification has been introduced for three legionaries: The Servant of God, Frank Duff (1889-1980), Founder of the Legion, who attended the Second Vatican Council as a Lay Observer; Venerable Edel Quinn (1907-1944), Legion Envoy to East Africa; and the Servant of God, Alfie Lambe (1932-1959), Legion Envoy to South America.

  • Year Of Mercy

    March 13th, 2015

    reconciliation2

Our Lord has shown me great mercy since my Conversion of Heart began. I pray for the ENTIRE CHURCH to take advantage of the Year of Mercy and “Return to your First Love”, that being our Lord. COMPLETELY!

    Be not afraid.

“The Lord does not delay his promise, as some regard “delay,” but he is patient with you, not wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” – 2 Peter 3:9

Pope Francis: homily with announcement of Year of Mercy

This year as last, as we head into of the Fourth Sunday of Lent, we are gathered to celebrate the penitential liturgy. We are united with so many Christians, who, in every part of the world, have accepted the invitation to live this moment as a sign of the goodness of the Lord. The Sacrament of Reconciliation, in fact, allows us with confidence to draw near to the Father, in order to be certain of His pardon. He really is “rich in mercy” and extends His mercy with abundance over those who turn to Him with a sincere heart.

To be here in order to experience His love, however, is first of all the fruit of His grace. As the Apostle Paul reminds us, God never ceases to show the richness of His mercy throughout the ages. The transformation of the heart that leads us to confess our sins is “God’s gift”, it is “His work” (cf. Eph 2:8-10). To be touched with tenderness by His hand and shaped by His grace allows us, therefore, to approach the priest without fear for our sins, but with the certainty of being welcomed by him in the name of God, and understood notwithstanding our miseries. Coming out of the confessional, we will feel God’s strength, which restores life and returns the enthusiasm of faith.

The Gospel we have heard (cf. Lk 7:36-50) opens for us a path of hope and comfort. It is good that we should feel that same compassionate gaze of Jesus upon us, as when he perceived the sinful woman in the house of the Pharisee. In this passage two words return before us with great insistence: love and judgment.

There is the love of the sinful woman, who humbles herself before the Lord; but first there is the merciful love of Jesus for her, which pushes her to approach. Her cry of repentance and joy washes the feet of the Master, and her hair dries them with gratitude; her kisses are pure expression of her affection; and the fragrant ointment poured out with abundance attests how precious He is to her eyes. This woman’s every gesture speaks of love and expresses her desire to have an unshakable certainty in her life: that of being forgiven. And Jesus gives this assurance: welcoming her, He demonstrates God’s love for her, just for her! Love and forgiveness are simultaneous: God forgives her much, everything, because “she loved much” (Luke 7:47); and she adores Jesus because she feels that in Him there is mercy and not condemnation. Thanks to Jesus, God casts her many sins away behind Him, He remembers them no more (cf. Is 43:25). For her, a new season now begins; she is reborn in love, to a new life.

This woman has really met the Lord. In silence, she opened her heart to Him; in pain, she showed repentance for her sins; with her tears, she appealed to the goodness of God for forgiveness. For her, there will be no judgment except that which comes from God, and this is the judgment of mercy. The protagonist of this meeting is certainly the love that goes beyond justice.

Simon the Pharisee, on the contrary, cannot find the path of love. He stands firm upon the threshold of formality. He is not capable of taking the next step to go meet Jesus, who brings him salvation. Simon limited himself to inviting Jesus to dinner, but did not really welcome Him. In his thoughts, he invokes only justice, and in so doing, he errs. His judgment on the woman distances him from the truth and does not allow him even to understand who guest is. He stopped at the surface, he was not able to look to the heart. Before Jesus’ parable and the question of which a servant would love his master most, the Pharisee answered correctly, “The one, to whom the master forgave most.” And Jesus does not fail to make him observe: “Thou hast judged rightly. (Lk 7:43)” Only when the judgment of Simon is turned toward love: then is he in the right.

The call of Jesus pushes each of us never to stop at the surface of things, especially when we are dealing with a person. We are called to look beyond, to focus on the heart to see how much generosity everyone is capable. No one can be excluded from the mercy of God; everyone knows the way to access it and the Church is the house that welcomes all and refuses no one. Its doors remain wide open, so that those who are touched by grace can find the certainty of forgiveness. The greater the sin, so much the greater must be the love that the Church expresses toward those who convert.

Dear brothers and sisters, I have often thought about how the Church might make clear its mission of being a witness to mercy. It is journey that begins with a spiritual conversion. For this reason, I have decided to call an extraordinary Jubilee that is to have the mercy of God at its center. It shall be a Holy Year of Mercy. We want to live this Year in the light of the Lord’s words: “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. (cf. Lk 6:36)”

This Holy Year will begin on this coming Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception and will end on November 20, 2016, the Sunday dedicated to Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe – and living face of the Father’s mercy. I entrust the organization of this Jubilee to the Pontifical Council for Promotion of the New Evangelization, that [the dicastery] might animate it as a new stage in the journey of the Church on its mission to bring to every person the Gospel of mercy.

I am convinced that the whole Church will find in this Jubilee the joy needed to rediscover and make fruitful the mercy of God, with which all of us are called to give consolation to every man and woman of our time. From this moment, we entrust this Holy Year to the Mother of Mercy, that she might turn her gaze upon us and watch over our journey. – Pope Francis

Come back to me with all your heart.
Don’t let fear keep us apart.
    Trees do bend, though straight and tall;
so must we to others’ call.
Long have I waited for your coming home to me
and living deeply our new life.

The wilderness will lead you to your heart where I will speak.
Integrity and justice with tenderness you shall know.
Long have I waited for your coming home to me
and living deeply our new life.

    You shall sleep secure with peace;
    faithfulness will be your joy.
Long have I waited for your coming home to me
and living deeply our new life.

Pax Christi! My name is Richard Sullivan. I am 25 years old, and I have accepted God’s call to the postulancy at the Norbertine Order of St. Michael’s Abbey in Orange County, California. Please help me pay off $19,000 of student loans by May 13th, the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima.

By the time I was thirteen, I felt a call to God’s service in the Catholic priesthood. About two years ago, I felt this calling in my heart, stronger than ever. This path has been a beautiful one, full of God’s goodness and Love.

The Norbertines are an order based on community and sacrifice. They were founded by St. Norbert of Xanten, and follow the Rule of St. Augustine. “Priests from St. Michael’s Abbey give spiritual direction and retreats to many different religious communities in California, and internationally” (from website).

Daily life consists of praying the Divine Office, Mass, Rosary, and Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction. There is also a Prepatory High School on site where the members teach and serve. Please visit their website to learn more: http://www.stmichaelsabbey.com. If this goal is met, I will join the postulancy program on August 27th, the Feast of St. Monica.

It is no secret that college debt has been a hindrance to vocations. Despite working full time and supporting myself, the amount far exceeds what I can pay off in order to enter the Abbey. This is why I humbly ask you for help. Please support my answer to God’s call by donating $50-$250? However, any and all amounts are greatly appreciated. I have no doubts that God will see this goal met, as nothing is impossible for Him, and He can not be outdone in generosity. Be assured of my prayers and sincere gratitude. May God bless and keep you, and Our Lady keep you tucked safely under her mantle.

Becoming a priest or a man or woman religious is not primarily our own decision…. Rather it is the response to a call and to a call of love.
—Pope Francis, Address to Seminarians and Novices, July 6, 2013

    Gracious God,
You have called me to life
and gifted me in many ways.
Through Baptism You have sent me
to continue the mission of Jesus
by sharing my love with others.
    Strengthen me to respond to
    Your call each day.
Help me to become all You desire of me.
Inspire me to make a difference in
    others’ lives.
Lead me to choose the way of life
    You have planned for me.
Open the hearts of all to listen
    to Your call.
Fill all with Your Holy Spirit that
we may have listening hearts and
the courage to respond to You.
    Enkindle in my heart
and the hearts of others the desire
to make the world a better place
    by serving as
    Lay Minister, Sister, Priest,
    Brother or Deacon.
    Amen.

  • Pray For Vocations – Norbertine Life at St. Michael’s Abbey

    March 10th, 2015

    110702036

    Hail Mary, full of grace;
    all generations call you blessed.
Hail Mother of God; when asked by the angel
to bear the Son of the Most High,
    filled with faith, you responded:
“Let it be done unto me.”

Holy Mother of Jesus, at the wedding feast at Cana,
you prompted your Son to perform his first sign.

Be with us as we discern our life’s work
and guide us in the way we are called to follow
in the footsteps of your Son.

Holy Mother of the Savior, at the foot of the cross
you mourned the death of your only Son.

Bless and embrace the loving parents of all priests,
    deacons, brothers and sisters.

Holy Mother of the Good Shepherd,
turn your motherly care to this nation.

Intercede for us to the Lord of the harvest
to send more laborers to the harvest
in this land dedicated to your honor.

Queen of Peace, Mirror of Justice, Health of the Sick,
    inspire vocations in our time.

Let the word of your Son be made flesh anew
in the lives of persons anxious to proclaim
the good news of everlasting life.
    Amen.
